The CD : Jitney Jams Year III

We were a few months late getting them out again this year, but the Jitney's Jams is back and ready to blare through your stereo system.

{If you don't know about our annual album, read about the history behind it here.}

The theme for this year's album is: Wake Up

This may come as a surprise to you but months of thought go into our album - 12 months, to be exact - sometimes even more. {We already have a few songs on the 25-year anniversary playlist. CDs probably won't be around by that year though.} Our goal each year is to methodically plan the songs to flow in certain ways.

This year's mix was planned in such a way to demonstrate our waking up physically and also spiritually throughout this past year. Each song or a few lyrics from each song have a special meaning behind it. Granted "our meaning" behind a lot of the songs are probably way different from the intentional meanings of the lyrics. For instance, some of the lyrics in the song "Lover of the Light" by Mumford & Sons are parallel to our walks with Christ, as He is the Light, but you'll have the chance to read all about those meanings soon.

There is purpose in every song that we've added to every album, but this is the first year we'll be sharing those purposes with you. We'll post about the explanations in a blog series so that it's not info overload. The first post will explain songs #1-5, the second post #6-10, and you get the point.

Hope you enjoy!!

OH! And, of course, this year we will be sending CDs out to a few of our blog readers. If you would like a copy, comment below or on our Facebook page. We'd love for you to jam out with us!

Coffee-Mate Baking Bistro Party

Many of you knew that I hosted a "Coffee-Mate Party" on Friday but you were probably really confused as to what that meant. Well, Coffee-Mate is awesome at marketing and asked their customers to spread the good word about their products. What did those special customers receive? Since I wanted to host a Baking Bistro party, they sent me all of these wonderful little gifts:

[free samples of Taster's Choice Instant Coffee, free samples of Original Coffee-Mate creamer, a muffin pan, cups, napkins, coupons for FREE Coffee-Mate, recipe cards (my favorite was the Biscotti), a cookbook and my absolute favorite... a STELLAR red Coffee-Mate apron.]

In the official terms of Coffee-Mate, Free Flavor Friday is:

On Friday, February 4th, 2011, COFFEE-MATE® is saluting its entire roster of flavors, and the people who love them with FREE FLAVOR FRIDAY! A special celebration filled with free product giveaways on and on Facebook, FREE FLAVOR FRIDAY is an opportunity to savor your favorite flavor or try a new one for FREE!

I chose to host the party for the wonderful volunteers, board, and staff at the First Call Pregnancy Center in Greensboro. The women (and man) involved in this organization are solid individuals who have a strong compassion on other women in need. They pour so much love on the women who come through the doors, I just don't know how they have any love left... well, it does make sense that they would because that love comes from Christ... but hopefully you get what I'm saying.

Margaret, a director at the Center, helped me set everything up Friday morning. She had some awesome ideas to carry out the theme of "Life Is Sweet" beyond playing Baby Bingo and the Ultrasound game... we used a clean baby changing table to set the fruit and utensils on and then set the Coffee-Mate station on a high chair. :) Thanks Margaret! She also made a delicious mushroom, ham and cheese casserole. A few of the volunteers brought in cinnamon rolls, hot tea, muffins, fruit and an apple and cheese dish. Thank you everyone!!

Also a huge thanks to Coffee-Mate and to all of my precious friends at the Pregnancy Center for attending the party! Here's a video from the day:

THIS is what a Todd Family Christmas looks like...

On this last day of January... we are posting Part 1 of the Todd Family Christmas. We know. That's terrible. It's like leaving your Christmas decorations up after midnight on December 31st (for all you superstitious men and women out there). Well, hopefully us posting these videos will not bring bad luck but rather tickle your hypothalamus and maybe inspire your thoughts in decorating for next Christmas.

We hope you enjoy seeing our first Christmas tree (that almost didn't fit because of the holly
adornment on top), a few of our family traditions, gifts we received (i.e. this book), and finally a delicious and beautiful Christmas recipe that I listed below.

Prep Time: 45 Minutes Start to Finish: 1 Hour 10 Minutes

Servings: 40 appetizers

2 cups finely shredded Swiss cheese (8 oz)

11/2 cups chopped cooked ham (8 oz)

1/4 cup sliced green onions

2 tablespoons honey mustard

2 cans (12 oz each) Pillsbury® Golden Layers® refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon sesame seed or poppy seed

2 tablespoons diced red and green bell pepper, if desired

1 green onion fan, if desired

1. Heat oven to 375°F. Spray large cookie sheet with cooking spray. In large bowl, mix cheese, ham, onions and mustard.

2. Separate 1 can of dough into 10 biscuits; leave second can in refrigerator. Separate each biscuit into 2 layers. Press each biscuit layer to form 31/2-inch round.

3. Place 1 rounded tablespoon cheese mixture on each dough round. Wrap dough around cheese mixture, pinching edges to seal. Repeat with

remaining can of dough and cheese mixture.

4. Arrange 8 balls, seam side down and sides almost touching, to form ring on cookie sheet, leaving 3-inch hole in center. Arrange 14 balls, sides almost touching, around outside of first ring. Arrange remaining 18 balls around outside of second ring. Brush wreath with beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seed.

5. Bake at 18 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Carefully slide wreath from cookie sheet onto 14-inch serving platter. Sprinkle with bell pepper.

Place onion fan in center of wreath. Serve warm.

JD's First Video

It was a warm and lovely autumn day exactly two months ago from today. My sweet husband and I got the opportunity to put together my grandmother's "appliances" cabinet. With everything we do together, we had a blast. Yes, we do seem to find an overflowing amount of joy in almost everything we do, but we just can't help ourselves. :) This video marks a huge event... this is actually the first video that JD has made on his computer by himself. Normally I make them because I have more time on my hands... and since he drives us whenever we travel throughout the Southeast, I have plenty of time in the passenger's seat to edit videos. I am so stinkin' proud of him for putting this one together! I hope ya'll enjoy it as much as I do!

Snowed in at the Bungalow

How crazy has this winter storm been?! JD made it out of the driveway for the first time this morning in Papa's 4-wheel drive truck but Silver Flash still has about 2 inches of ice layered on her windshield. I have yet to get out of our sweet bungalow. However, these four days have given us a lot of time to examine the pure beauty surrounding our home, eat, work on videos, be creative, coupon clip and CLEAN!! :) What have you done throughout this week to prevent cabin fever?

Here's a video of our icy snow-covered bungalow:

The Fall Wreath.

Last Wednesday, my Gingin needed to drive to Milledgeville to go to Belk. And who doesn't love/want a shopping partner!? I didn't have any money to spend of course, but she really wanted to get JD and me a fake autumn bouquet at Wal-Mart so that we could revamp the wreath hanging beside our door. I thought this would be a great project for us to do together. However, she took my Papa to the hospital Thursday and they are still there highly anticipating on figuring out what in the heck is going on with his body, but we're hoping they will be pleasantly surprised with the wreath and all of the un-read newspapers sitting in Papa's comfy leather chair when they arrive back home.

WAY more than a side note: Please continue praying for our Papa. Pray that the doctors will be able to find out what the problems are and that the procedures to take care of them will be painless and will have very very few side effects, if any! Also, as wives know, please be praying for our Gingin. She lost her grandmother in July and now she's having to see her husband in pain. She is the strongest woman I know and she's determined that the Lord will be faithful during this time. In this circumstance, once again, we belittle God if we don't believe that His healing grace will prevail; and she, thus far, has never experienced a time when that Truth did not ring true. :)

So here is the video of JD and me putting together our new Fall Wreath! We hope it inspires you to add some autumn-loveliness to your front porch too.

Sprinkling a Little Summer Into Fall

This video was taken August 31, 2010, before all of this BEAUTIFUL CHILLY WEATHER started coming in. So before the Fall comes in full force, we wanted to share the gloriousness of Lake Oconee with yall from a jet-skiers point of view. One reason we love living on the lake, besides the million other reasons, is that there is nobody else on the lake during the week. It really is amazing. Don't worry. As with all vids, we include some more wildlife in this one. :)

In other news, our closet is FINISHED!! Wahoo!! We also painted one of our walls a deep chocolate brown. Most people would think we're crazy and too risky, but we love taking design risks... and we think this risk was well worth it. Gosh, we cannot wait to share that video with yall!

Google Chrome and Arcade Fire Team Up... What!? Yes. So Excited. :)

Good Morning Everyone!!

We just wanted to share this super awesome link with y'all that our friend Shannon Donelson shared via Facebook. Click here for the Wilderness Downtown and make sure that you put your childhood address because you might start crying. :)

Whit's Hair Changes with the Seasons

It was time. It was time for a change. And what is a greater change for a woman than a new hair color and a fresh cut?? Ok... we're thinking on a small scale here, not a car or house or anything like that. In fact, we would most certainly not consider either of those too great of a change for us right now. :)

So in reference to the original question, nothing. Thus, that's why I was thrilled to make this transformation just as the leaves are starting to turn...

Both the footage and the video are basically incomparable to JD's seeing as inches and inches continued to fall from his head, but we still wanted to share my exhilarating hair change too! Plus we love this song "Shooting Star" by Air Traffic. :)

A huge thank you to Alli Roberts at Alli Roberts Hair Salon for doing such a wonderful job on my haircut. ALSO a huge thank you to her and everyone who decorated her salon because I feel completely inspired every time I walk out of there!!

...Little known fact, Shooting Star was my "indian name" that my parents gave me as a kid.
